Funsized Fruits

I see so many petite women eating healthy foods like fruit but they are still frustrated that they cannot lose weight despite their efforts to eat super healthy and “clean” foods all day long.

Fruit is totally healthy and nutritious but just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean you can have unlimited amounts of it – especially as a short girl who wants to burn body fat.⁣

The average recommendation is 1-2 servings of fruit per day but as petite women, we need to remember that we need less than the average recommendations. I recommend that my petite clients always portion their fruit and stick to only 1 serving per day.

It’s important to realize that not all fruits are created equal! Some are way higher in sugar and will spike insulin faster. I recommend my clients choose berries because they are lowest on the glycemic index and contain the least amount of sugar

AND berries are much easier to measure and track when you are counting macros!⁣

Fruit like bananas and apples come in all different shapes and sizes. One large apple vs one small apple can have very different carb counts. So 1 piece of fruit doesn’t always equal 1 serving.

For example…

Many of my clients are surprised when I show them what a portion size of fruit really is! For example, the portion size of a banana is actually half the banana! So if someone where to theoretically have 2 bananas in a day (which I’ve seen) thinking it’s two fruit servings, it would actually be 4!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If this is you, I highly consider counting macronutrients so that you understand the portion sizes of these healthy foods your eating.. yes even fruit!

Understanding this is key so you can be aware of what you’re eating and reach your weight loss goals.
